Investing in Hope

So, here's the deal.

As some of you may know, next year I am going to be a freshman RA at Grove City College. This summer, Residence Life has given us a bit of a challenge.  Our theme for next year is Invest.  We're going to start doing that now, based off the Biblical parable of the talents.  (Check it out in Matthew 25:14-30)  Every RA was given an envelope containing $1, $2, or $5 and the opportunity to make that money grow during the summer and then use it to invest in anything we choose -- a ministry, a family in need, a missionary.  But here's the catch, we aren't allowed to add any of our own money.  Instead, we have to make it grow in other ways.

I was given $1.  To be honest, my first thought was "Really?  What can I do with one dollar?  I can't make something with $1.  I don't have time for this.  This is an awesome idea, but I don't have time this summer."

Not the best attitude to have.  At all.  But it was definitely what I was feeling until about a week ago when I first discovered the organization eXile International.  Then I knew that I needed to do something.  I wanted so badly to be able to give a donation to eXile Intl.  This is part of my heart and my passion.  I'm involved with a ministry at Grove City called Project Okello.  Our mission is "to be an instrument of hope, healing, and Christ's love to the people of Uganda through prayer and action."  eXile Intl is doing this firsthand.  I haven't had the opportunity to go to Africa and meet the children who were forced to be soldiers for the LRA.  I don't know them personally; I just know their stories.  I cannot form the relationships needed to change these kids lives and to impact the future of Central and Eastern Africa, eXile does that.

But, what I can do is multiply one to bring Hope.  The hope of Christ.  The healing power of our incredible God.

And this is where you come in.  Since I cannot add any of my own money, I need you.  I need you to donate.  All I ask is that you help me multiply one and make it grow.  I ask for what I was given, $1.  That isn't even a coffee.  But, $1 can make a difference.  I currently have 445 friends on Facebook. If every single one of my friends is willing to give just $1, I will have raised $445 to give to eXile by the end of the summer.  Help me reach that goal.  Help bring hope, healing, and Christ's love to these children of war.

Most importantly, Invest your life.  Invest the little (or much) that God has given you to impact His Kingdom.

***If you want to give to eXile, I ask that you use the little "Donate" button at the top of the page.  This will go into my personal Paypal account.  This is just so that I can keep track of how much my $1 has grown. At the end of the summer, I will make one large donation to eXile.  I promise that every cent put into my paypal will go to eXile!
